But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4: 3 – 4, KJV.)

Good morning and a happy new month to us all. Really, it’s been quite an age since we last did this. I apologise for my unavoidable french leave. (Smiles.)

So friends, now that we’re back, let’s quickly do this. I promise to make this short.

Opening blind eyes!

It appears friends, that, our opening Scripture is bringing something new and different to the table today. Did it ever cross your mind that blindness in the minds of people by the devil, the god of this world, is the reason why they haven’t heeded the gospel? Well, that’s the find we’ve made today. So, because the eyes of their minds have been blinded by the devil, they are unable to see the light of the glorious gospel of CHRIST.

But do you know, that this was the exact case of all of us until something happened? See this here:

…that ye henceforth walk not as other gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart… (Ephesians 4: 17, 18, KJV.)

Prior to the ‘something’ that happened to us, as gentiles that we were, we walked like every other gentile walked, because of blindness in our hearts.

But this is the ‘something’ which happened to us, and the narrative changed. Here, see:

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4: 6, KJV.)

Now, if God’s mercy could find us in such a way as described above, then it can find those out there whose mind’s eye are still blinded by the devil. Mind you, the question here is not about preaching the gospel, but the reception of the gospel by those who hear it. So, in the words of Paul to Timothy, here’s our part to play in the opening of these blinded eyes:

I exhort therefore, that, FIRST OF ALL, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men…FOR THIS IS GOOD AND ACCEPTABLE in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2: 1, 3, 4, KJV. Capitalised emphasis are mine.)

The above passage has said it all: since it’s God’s will for all men to be saved, then, we that have been saved should take up the duty of praying for the unsaved ones, because, like we have already learnt, they are blinded by the devil, the god of this world. Now, when we pray in this line, and in this light, WE ARE OPENING BLIND EYES!

Stay blessed!
