Be ye therefore, followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as CHRIST also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. (Ephesians 5: 1 – 2, KJV.)

Hello Saint! I’m happy to do this with us today; it’s the second part of our series, ‘OUR LOVE WALK’. For the first part, Galatians 5: 13 was used as opening scripture; today, we take off with the passage above.

Beloved sons of God, the passage above is what I call an outline of our love walk: in the above passage, the path for us is laid out for us to walk on, and it’s a love path; the same love path our LORD Jesus CHRIST walked on to save us. Here, see:

  • He loved us;
  • He gave Himself to be an offering and a sacrifice to God on our behalf, courtesy of the love He had for us, and still has for us;
  • And as children of God, we are to follow God, walking the same path of loving, serving (giving) and sacrificing like CHRIST.

From the above we can deduce how love leads to service and sacrifice – that’s the point made by our theme Scripture. These three words, love, service and sacrifice should be every believer’s motto, and I make bold to say I live my life loving, serving and sacrificing. Our love walk should lead us to loving, serving and sacrificing for others as CHRIST would for them.

Hope we know that, all that coming of Jesus to the world to save us was an expression of God’s love? God is love; it’s His very nature; all that He does stems from that singular fact of His person. Here, see:

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3: 16, KJV.)

God’s gift expresses His very nature – God gave Jesus, Jesus loved, served and sacrificed. In the same vein, Scripture demands that, as sons of God in CHRIST, the Son of God, we should follow God in the light of how the LORD Jesus CHRIST expressed the Father. In other words, we should follow God by following CHRIST; and following CHRIST implies walking in love.

If you ever had confessed ‘as He is, so are we in this world’, then permit me to bring to your notice that, what that means, is that you are love, because that’s what or who He is – LOVE! And truly, we are who He is in this world! We are love! Until we come to terms with this reality of ours, we won’t represent CHRIST as we ought to in this world.

We continue next time; but before then, place your right hand on your chest and say: ‘I am Love, for as He is, so am I in this world; I live my life loving people as Jesus loves them’.

Amen. Do have a great day ahead!
